Each episode is not simply unique due to location, project, etc but also unique because you always use different ideas and techniques for doing things, you’re not repetitive in your methodology. I find I learn so much this way. I did not think I would get much out of this episode initially because I can’t relate to basements, mud rooms, etc. since I was born & raised in Miami, FL where we don’t have that stuff. However, I gained so much more than i could imagine from this episode. I love what you did with the stick-on floor boards by nailing them to the wall. That is actually a beautiful idea for the wall behind our bed in the master bedroom. I love the Murphy bed and the faux doors, just the clever little details like extra safety measures, storage on each side....BRILLIANT! And I love the use of space under the stairs snd the idea and design of the desk. Love it! I couldn’t pick one thing, there was so much to love. You & your team are STARS! Bravo!

67. Tani J: I watched a few of these so far, found it when I looked up something regarding Lowes. She makes great stuff, but I do not like her color choices at all. I did not like the many colors she used on the "wee shed" for instance, or the other colors. Grays, whites, blues, etc. Not my cup of tea. I prefer earth tones. Ever see NCIS? There is a room or a few of them they have with this shade of red and shade of pumpkin that is GORGEOUS.

(2) The climbing wall should have ended some four feet from each corner of the wall = the little climber could end up being hurt, if he fell hitting the corner of the Murphy Bed cabinet or the shelf unit on the other end.

With technology changing in mattresses this concept is perfect! The dark brad's in the peel and stick is a good idea. You could use the same climbing mountain wall for cat owners!!! I've been looking for something non-catlady looking so all you would have to do is turn the grips into flat surfaces for kitty. Best vid ever. It's not over inflated with accessories no one can find or afford. Not everyone wants magnolia faux farmhouse industrial. Like this video for more like this!

221. kez kezooie: I love the simplicity and strength that pivot would give the murphy bed! If you want to buy the mechanisms with all of the springs and cantilevers they are quite pricey and, as is my belief anyway, the simpler the mechanism, the more reliable it tends to be. Not to mention this pivot is much less painful on the hip pocket nerve! I'd most probably use an extra latching system just as a belt and braces approach to the safety aspect, but this is a very clear, easy to follow tutorial. I really want to make one of these although I don't have an overwhelming need for one - I'm sure I'll come up with a justification though - I even already have suitable timber from an old waterbed which I decommissioned and turned into a platform bed, which has once again been decommissioned and I have been planning on using to make some shelving. I even have some cabinetry and some gal flanges, pipe lengths and caps I can most probably reuse. Sometimes being a DIY materials hoarder can really pay off :)

270. Jessica Raine: That would be true no matter what they designed as far as a child's space. As they grow from a toddler to a teen the spaces need updating. A climbing wall is great through the late childhood and by removing a few of the handholds they make it more challenging as they get bigger. Once they're too big you just repaint the moutains, fill the holes, and it's just an interesting bit of wall art.

Tarun Makhija: Monica you're like the horse whisperer of homes. absolutely ove that mountain climbing wall. is it just me, or does any one else feel Dillinger is soooooooo adorable. i loved the stuffed animal heads on the wall, puts a whole new twist on it instead of having horrifying dead heads of actual animals starring at you at night. i am based in India, and while our construction techniques are diametrically opposite to western norms, there are still tonnes of ideas that can be applied in this hemisphere too. Kudos to you and Lowe's!

322. thefilthelement: The bolts wouldn't get in the way of the pivot since the pivoting is between the cabinet and the bed frame, not inside of it. You could cut them to make sure they don't rip your mattress though.
