Tom Cruise has expressed interest in playing the character of Jack. However, because of his asking price, he was never taken seriously!
"Titanic" is known as one of the successful romantic/adventure movies of all times, giving stardom to both Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. Let's look at some interesting facts about the Titanic movie that you probably didn't know!
5- Tom Cruise expressed interest in playing the character of Jack. However, because of his asking price, he was never taken seriously.
4- When Gwyneth Paltrow, Claire Danes, and Gabrielle Anwar turned down the offer for playing Rose, Kate Winslet landed the job.
3- During shooting the movie, an angry crew member put a hallucinogen drug into the soup that Cameron and many others ate. More than 50 people to the hospital, but Cameron, managed to vomit before the drug took hold of him!
2- At $200m, the cost of making the movie was higher than the cost of building the Titanic itself (approximately $150m in 1997)!
1- The Jack's (Leonardo DiCaprio's) haircut was so popular among afghan youths that the Taliban regime banned it. If barbers did such hairstyle, they would go to the jail!

1- Leonardo DiCaprio beat Matthew McConaughey, Chris O'Donnell, Christian Bale, Billy Crudup and Stephen Dorff to get the role of Jack.
2- Kate Winslet lobbied heavily to land the role of Rose. She even sent Cameron a single rose with a card signed "From Your Rose"!
3- With over 128 millions tickets sold, Titanic is ranked 6th in the box office, behind Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, The Sound of Music. E.T. and The Ten Commandments.
4- After spending hours in cold water, many cast members including Kate Winslet came down with colds, flu, or kidney infections. Winslet then decided that she would not then work with Cameron again.
5- Upon release in North America, Titanic stayed at No.1 for 15 consecutive weeks in the United States and Canada, which remains a record as of 2012.
6- During the sinking scene, most of the ocean which extras were jumping into was only 3 feet (Approximately one meter) deep!
7- James Cameron forfeited his $8 million salary as a director and his percentage of the gross when the studio became concerned about the high budget of the movie!
8- Early in production, the movie's "decoy" working title was "Planet Ice".
